9 by ANNA PENNATI
"I strongly wanted the number 9 as the title of this exhibition because it represents, both mathematically and symbolically and esoterically, the return of the multiple to the unit; the completion of a cycle."
"Over the years my painting evolved by gradually eliminating figurative and representative elements within the composition. It was not a stylistic choice, but an unavoidable inner need that led me to search for the essence of the subject beyond the visible image: the archetype."
"The three fundamental expressive elements in art are: line, form and color. I wanted to FREE each of these 3 elements from the bondage of representation."
"The line, freed from the yoke, was transformed from a medium into a subject. Absolute, accomplished line that is generated and ended in a single gesture, encompassing and returning the energetic vibration that generated it.
Here the observation of the artwork changes. The "empty" parts become in turn absolute protagonists, rising to the role of subject.
All in a quantum crescendo, where line, color and form change without the passing of time and simultaneously in distant places, taking us into a spatiotemporal continuum of unknown and therefore even more irresistible fascination.
The color detaches itself from the material plane to the mental one, and the form slowly collaborates until it merges with what it has around it." (Anna Pennati)

9 are the years of this journey, during which Anna Pennati has repeatedly reached the peak, only to start again, because doing so avoids the descent, producing artworks that are apparently different, but in which one can unmistakably recognize the style that distinguishes her and that has led her to be one of the most prominent artistic personalities on the international scene.
